. they gave us a loose description. black man, in his 20s, dark clothing, with a weapon. that's describing a lot of people possibly. that's the information we have. women in the area are told to stay in well lighted areas with other people around. >> i wish i could find someplace else to walk. >> everybody especially people by themselves are all walking around with an ipod in their ear. >> reporter: that woman is absolutely right this. certainly puts your defenses down, people with ipods, iphones, any sort of cell phone or mp3 player when you have the headphones in your ear. you become a target according to police. and they are warning people to lock the doors in your car immediately and be careful getting out of your car, as well. although we don't know the exact circumstances of these attacks, it might involve a vehicle because police are also sending out that warning. we are waiting for more information from the oakland pd. >> thank you. anne makovec in oakland. >>> and a woman was able to fight off her attacker in the south bay over the weekend. the woman says she was jogging sunday mo

. >> a historic moment in baghdad as u.s. officials formally hand over control of military operations back to the iraq government. >> good morning. it's wednesday, september 1. i'm john kessler. >> i'm sydnie kohara. good morning, everyone. >>> an east bay murder suspect is dead this morning. he is now being connected with killings in two counties. right now bomb squad units are at two different locations. anne makovec is at a home in vallejo where officers made a gruesome discovery. >> reporter: good morning. police have been here all night. they found the bodies of two women in this home here behind me on upland court overnight. the bodies were chopped up, according to police. police have not positively confirmed yet if they are indeed two missing women in their 60s that have been missing since last week. one of those women did live here. they were both acquaintances of a man suspected of at least two other murders and here is that man. his name is efren valdemoro, 38 years old. now, he was shot and killed by officers last night. officers say that valdemoro fled the chp on a high-speed c

's get another check of traffic and weather. elizabeth, how's it looking? >> chopper 5 is with us now. and they are showing us how great it looks across the richmond/san rafael bridge. they are heading west to the scene of that earlier brush fire out of san rafael. it was reported southbound 101 at sir francis drake. fire crews were blocking lanes at 4:00. as you can sees across the span of the bridge out of richmond traffic is great. no issues. just behind the sound wall near sir francis drake boulevard. we got off the phone with the chief of the fire department and the fire is out. fire crews are off to the shoulder but no longer blocking any lanes. out to the san mateo bridge, everything looks great. 14 minutes in the commute direction of westbound 92 towards the peninsula. that's your traffic. here's lawrence with your forecast. >> temperatures really cooling down outside around the bay area, elizabeth. good old low clouds and fog starting to make its way back onshore. you see some of those patches sneaking inside the bay now but all along the coastline more of that throughout the

--bottle of depleted your uranium. rittenhouse worked at goodrich in fairfield. the company does not use uranium. he will be arraigned today on charges positive sessing explosives. >>> this morning, two bodies still in the small plane that crashed on the peninsula. that plane taking off from the san carlos airport about noon yesterday. a few minutes later, it crashed into a lagoon at redwood shores. some boaters in the area quickly got to the crash scene but couldn't rescue anyone from the plane. emergency personnel recovered a woman's body from the water, but two people still in the cockpit will not be removed until investigators check the wreckage. >> one of the bodies in the plane is believed to be that of the owner. he is 92-year-old robert borrmann, who owns a steel company in east palo alto. the pilot was also killed. witnesses say he was a hero for steering the plane away from buildings near the crash site. >>> the city of san carlos may soon have no police department. last night the city council voted to disband the department and contract services out to the san mateo county she

to be trying to find the cause for months before it's actually confirmed. but they say that they will let us know as soon as new information comes in on exactly what caused this pipeline explosion. here in san bruno, the investigation continues this morning. thousands of miles of pipeline will have to be inspected by pg&e as this investigation, of course, continues. the ntsb has been collecting evidence from around the blast site, pieces of the pipeline exploded on thursday leaving this crater in the ground in the middle of a neighborhood. the ruptured line was in a high concentration area so it should -- high consequence area, so it should get more stringent inspections. pg&e says the line was slated to be replaced according to documents. now, pieces of it have become evidence instead, including a 28-foot section ripped out of the ground and tossed 100 feet into the air by the blast. it's being shipped to washington, d.c. as part of the investigation. another big part of the investigation, whether or not there was a gas smell reported to pg&e in the days before the explosion. >> we are not
